Used Cranes for Sale – Unmatched Heavy Lifting Power

IronPower Industries provides a specialized selection of used cranes designed to deliver maximum lifting capacity and operational safety. From erecting structural steel on commercial high-rises to placing heavy concrete barriers on highway expansions, a dependable crane is the most critical asset for keeping large-scale construction and civil engineering projects moving safely and on schedule.

Why buy a used crane?

  • Massive capital savings. New cranes are among the most expensive pieces of heavy machinery in the world. Purchasing a thoroughly inspected, pre-owned crane allows you to acquire world-class lifting capacity without the severe initial depreciation.
  • Proven structural integrity. We source equipment from globally recognized manufacturers that build their booms, turntables, and hydraulic systems to perform reliably for decades under extreme stress.
  • Immediate deployment. Avoid multi-year waitlists from manufacturers. Our used inventory is available immediately, allowing you to bid on and secure larger contracts right now.

What to consider before you buy

Selecting the right crane requires a deep understanding of your jobsite logistics and the maximum weight of your heaviest lifts:

Lifting Capacity and Load Charts:
The rated capacity (e.g., 50-ton, 100-ton) is only the beginning. You must carefully review the crane’s load chart to understand how the lifting capacity decreases as the boom extends vertically and horizontally (radius). Always buy a crane with a capacity that exceeds your heaviest anticipated lift to ensure a safe margin of error.

Crane Type and Jobsite Terrain:
Rough Terrain (RT) cranes feature oversized tires, 4-wheel drive, and compact frames, making them perfect for off-road construction sites. Crawler cranes utilize heavy steel tracks, offering the highest lifting capacities and the ability to move (travel) while carrying a heavy load, though they require significant assembly on-site.

Boom Length and Reach:
Ensure the main telescopic or lattice boom provides the necessary hook height for your projects. Consider machines that include jib extensions for additional reach over tall structures.

Typical applications we support

  • Infrastructure and Civil Engineering: Erecting heavy bridge girders, expanding highway corridors, and assisting in massive rail line or transit developments.
  • Commercial Construction: Hoisting structural steel beams, precast concrete panels, and large HVAC units onto multi-story rooftops.
  • Industrial and Energy: Maintaining refineries, installing wind turbines, and handling heavy machinery in manufacturing plants.

Popular crane brands

Our inventory regularly features the most powerful names in the lifting industry. We proudly carry machines from Sany, a global giant rapidly dominating the crane market with their exceptional engineering, massive lifting capacities, and state-of-the-art safety sensors.

How we inspect used cranes

Safety is non-negotiable when lifting tons of material over a jobsite. Every crane listed by IronPower Industries undergoes a rigorous, specialized inspection:

  • LMI (Load Moment Indicator) Calibration: We rigorously test the computer safety systems to ensure they accurately read load weights, boom angles, and radii to prevent tipping or structural failure.
  • Wire Rope and Rigging: Inspecting the main hoist lines for fraying, crushing, or corrosion.
  • Hydraulics and Cylinders: Checking the massive boom lift cylinders, telescopic cylinders, and outrigger jacks for zero drift under pressure.
  • Turntable and Swing Bearing: Verifying smooth 360-degree rotation with no excessive play in the slewing ring.
  • Structural Integrity: Inspecting the boom sections and outrigger beams for stress fractures or weld fatigue.

Frequently Asked Questions About Cranes

What is a Rough Terrain (RT) crane?

A Rough Terrain crane is a highly mobile crane built on an undercarriage with four large rubber tires. Designed specifically for off-road applications, they feature 4-wheel drive and 4-wheel steering, allowing them to maneuver through mud, gravel, and uneven construction sites. They use hydraulic outriggers to stabilize the machine before lifting.

What is an LMI on a crane?

LMI stands for Load Moment Indicator. It is a critical computerized safety system that constantly monitors the crane’s operations, including the weight on the hook, the angle of the boom, and the length of the extension. If the operator attempts a lift that exceeds the crane’s safe operating capacity (based on the load chart), the LMI will sound an alarm and physically lock out the controls to prevent the crane from tipping over.

How do I transport a crane to my jobsite?

Transportation depends on the type of crane. Some smaller mobile cranes can be driven on the highway. However, Rough Terrain cranes and large Crawler cranes must be hauled on specialized heavy-duty lowboy trailers. Crawler cranes often require multiple trucks to transport the tracks, carbody, and boom sections separately for on-site assembly.

Can I finance a used crane?

Yes. Cranes are significant capital investments, and IronPower Industries offers specialized machinery financing options tailored to help heavy construction and rigging companies expand their lifting fleet while maintaining a healthy cash flow.
